Grain Storage Cooling System for See Silos

Main Product

Grain Storage Cooling System for See Silos

Product Description

Grain Cooler System

The most natural and cost effective way to preserve all kind of grains, seeds and perishable granular products.

Avoids typical problems of grain storing: heat development, insect activity, product fermentation, moulds, toxins, weight loss because of grain metabolism, water condensation. Grain chilling permits higher grain moisture contents, without risk. With the use of cooling procedure, expensive and dangerous chemical fumigations are avoided. The product is stored in best possible condition. Operating costs of grain chilling are cheaper than traditional ones.

Application Fields

The cooling system is specially recommended for rice, maize, wheat, barley, soya beans, sorghum, cotton seeds, green coffee beans, lucerne pellets, feed pellets etc.

The refrigeration can be used in silos and warehouses. In silos, the cooler air outlet is connected to the existing aeration inlet pipe. The use of the cooling system is usually immediate and no additional works are necessary. In warehouses, an on-floor or under-floor duct system has to be previously arranged.

How It Works?

The cold air produced by the Grain cooler unit is introduced at the bottom of the silo. This air begins to cool the bottom layer of grain. The air pushes the heat to pass upwards through the mass of grain and escapes as warm exhaust air. As the cooling process develops, a cooling zone is formed and slowly moving up through the grain.

The cooling operation is completed as soon as the escaping air is cold. The same sequence occurs in case of flat storage plants. Grain is a band heat transmitter, in other words, it is a good insulator material. The radiation of heat from the outside is of little influence, even if stored inside of steel silos or warehouses. For this reason, no insulation of walls is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a grain cooler preserve stored agricultural products?
A grain cooler reduces the temperature of the grain mass. Lower temperatures prevent insect development, mold growth, fermentation, and water condensation, keeping the grain fresh without needing chemical treatments.
What types of grains and crops can be cooled with this equipment?
It is highly recommended for a wide variety of granular products including wheat, rice, maize, barley, soya beans, sunflower seeds, sorghum, cotton seeds, green coffee beans, and animal feed pellets.
Do I need special insulation for steel silos or warehouses?
No, grain itself acts as a natural thermal insulator. External heat radiation has very little influence on the core temperature inside steel silos or warehouses, meaning wall insulation is generally not required.
How does the cool air circulate within the grain storage system?
The cooler introduces cold air at the base of the silo. This cold air pushes existing heat upward through the grain mass, escaping through the top as warm exhaust. This process gradually forms a cooling zone that moves upwards until the entire batch is cooled.
What are the main specifications of the QGL-90FA grain cooler model?
The QGL-90FA model is a portable, floor-standing air cooler with a cooling capacity range of 6.75-77kw. It features a fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) air tube for high corrosion durability, operates at 380/220V, and is packed in an export plywood case.
Does this cooling method reduce the weight of the stored grain?
No, unlike traditional aeration methods that can lead to excessive drying and metabolic weight loss, grain chilling preserves correct moisture levels safely, maintaining both quality and weight without dry substance loss.
